Internship Emphases


After completing a PCYM, students can choose from a variety of internship options which will give them further exposure and experience of ministry to children, youth, and families. A minimum of two and a maximum of four, internship modules can be accredited towards the degree in child and youth ministry. The choice of internships will determine the focus of the degree and the probable emphasis of future emphasis of future ministry.

EDU 211 - Internship in Child and Youth Ministries with emphasis on "Mobilising the emerging generations"

This internship module will allow students to gain experience in mobilising young people and families into outreach and missions. A variety of different outreach expressions may be offered and interns will learn to play key roles in setting up and leading such mobilising programmes.

EDU 212 - Internship in Child and Youth Ministries with emphasis on "discipleship of children and youth"

Here the ministry emphasis will be on equipping Christian young people and families to grow in their faith. Interns will be involved in staffing and/or leading a variety of seasonal and year-round activities, such as prayer groups, all-age worship, youth or multi-generational cells, pre-teen or teen training programmes, family camps, NIKO, local outreach teams, etc.

EDU 213 - Internship in Child and Youth Ministries with emphasis on "child and youth evangelism"

Interns in this module will be involved in a variety of activities reaching out to unchurched children, youth and families. Streetside outreach programmes, children's clubs, schools ministry, life skills programmes, youth activity centres, sports minisrty, etc. are only some of the activities that interns might be involved in.

EDU 214 - Internship in Child and Youth Ministries with emphasis on "Mercy ministries"

These interns will be involved in ministry with an emphasis on caring for poor and disadvantaged young people. Feeding programmes, work with orphans and HIV-AIDS children, ministry with street kids, drug adicts or child prostitutes, caring for abused children or victims of war... The possibilities will vary according to the ministry emphasis at hte internship location.
