2005 June - Learning and Remembering the Ways of God
In the early days of KKI, much emphasis was placed on putting on the full armour of God as described in Ephesians 6 beginning with verse 11. As we are not wrestling against flesh and but against the evil authorities of the unseen world, we are instructed to engage in warfare protected by the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, our feet wearing sandals prepared for walking out life as peacemakers.
This is all necessary and right, but remember this too…in these days when our news broadcasts are filled with the atrocities of war and with fresh evidence of ethnic hatred and unspeakable suffering, Colossians 3 : 12-14 tells us about another way to clothe ourselves.
“Since God chose you to be the holy people whom He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. You must make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. And the most important piece of clothing that you must wear is love.” NLT
I would like to leave you with these life giving words from 1 Corinthians 12. The last verse of this chapter is also the introductory verse to the
greatest chapter in the Bible on love~ 1 Corinthians 13.
This verse simply says:
“Let me show you a still more excellent way.”
Learning along with you to live and love like Jesus

Carol
